Per-app control is requested only when you enable it, and only for supported apps that are visible or that you explicitly pin.

Volume Mixer stays out of your way until you need it. Open the speaker icon, make an adjustment, and get back to what you were doing—no bulky control center, no always-open window, no third-party audio driver.

Per-app control depends on the audio processes and controls that macOS exposes, so compatibility can vary by app and output device. When a supported app does not expose a direct volume control, Volume Mixer can use a per-app Core Audio process tap after you grant the relevant system audio permission.

Volume Mixer 2.0 (build 9) requires macOS 14.2 or later.
